Uganda
The Pearl of Africa offers a rare combination of gorilla trekking, tree-climbing lions, dramatic waterfalls, and remote wilderness. From a 4-day gorilla extension to extended multi-park itineraries, the country delivers both classic safaris and unique off-the-beaten-path adventures.
Unlike Kenya and Tanzania, where focus is mainly on savannah and large herds, Uganda adds the exclusivity of mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, and lush tropical forests to its wildlife mix. Safaris here are more varied and intimate, combining savannah game viewing with primates, birdlife, lakes, and mountains — making Uganda one of East Africa’s most complete destinations.
Bwindi & Mgahinga
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga National Park are Uganda’s primate strongholds. Visitors can experience gorilla trekking, golden monkey tracking, and scenic volcano hikes.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Home to tree-climbing lions, Queen Elizabeth offers classic game drives, boat safaris on the Kazinga Channel, lion tracking experiences, and chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge.
Murchison Falls National Park
Uganda’s largest park, Murchison combines game drives with Nile boat cruises to the base of the falls, birdwatching, and sport fishing for Nile perch.
Kidepo Valley National Park
A remote wilderness in the northeast, Kidepo is famous for wide landscapes, hot springs, and cultural encounters with the Ik and Karamojong communities.
Kibale National Park
Known as the primate capital, Kibale features chimpanzee trekking, crater lakes, the Bigodi wetland sanctuary, and rich birdlife.
Rwenzori Mountains
The Mountains of the Moon, offer multi-day treks and ascents of peaks such as Margherita at 5,109m — as well as shorter walks along the park’s edges to discover local life and culture.
Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo offers a different safari experience with walking safaris, horseback rides, cycling, and boat cruises — complemented by night drives for nocturnal species.
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Ziwa is the only place in Uganda to track rhinos on foot. The sanctuary also offers rich birdlife, nature walks, and wetland excursions, making it an ideal stopover between Kampala and Murchison Falls.
Mount Elgon Region
The slopes of Mount Elgon combine scenic forest walks, hikes to spectacular waterfalls, and gentle nature trails — with opportunities for birdwatching and encounters with local communities.
